His name is Nelson Rolihlahla Mandela, he was born on July 18, 1918 in Mvezo,
South Africa. 2. His parents were Gadla Henry Mphakanyiswa and Noqaphi
Nosekeni.3. His children are Madiba Thembi Thembelike Mandela (1945-1969)

the Robben Island prison. 10. A lifetime dedicated to fighting for human
rights, peace, relations between races, gender equality, children's rights,
social justice and against poverty. 11. After 27 years in prison, Nelson
Mandela was released in 1990 and quickly began leading negotiations that
enabled the transition, without civil war, to multiracial democracy. 12. In
1985 he was offered to be free on the condition that he renounce political
activism, and Mandela rejected the offer by issuing a statement that said:
“What freedom am I offered if the freedom of the people is still prohibited? 13.
In 1991 he was appointed president of the African National Congress (ANC),
founded in 1912 in order to defend the rights of the black majority. 14. In
1993, Mandela received the Nobel Peace Prize for his message of reconciliation
and coexistence between races, which made the transition to a democratic South
Africa possible. 15. Nelson Mandela was president of South Africa from May 10,
1994 to June 16, 1999, and his last public appearance was in 2012. 16. In 2004
Mandela retired from political life. 17. in 2011 Mandela was hospitalized for a
respiratory infection. 18. Nelson Mandela passed away on December 5, 2013 after
6 critical months of lung problems.
